Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society

The Society provides financial assistance and education, as well as other programs and services, to members of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, their eligible family members, widows, and survivors. The need for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society was recognized long before it was organized. Our newly formed nation couldn't afford to provide a benefits package for its armed forces. There were no medical benefits for service families, no retirement annuities or survivors' benefits for families of deceased personnel. Sailors and Marines would - pass the hat - to collect funds to help their shipmate's widows and orphans.

The Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2) is the official U.S. Army program that assists and advocates for severely wounded, ill or injured Soldiers, Veterans, and their Families, wherever they are located, regardless of military status. Soldiers who qualify for AW2 are assigned to the program as soon as possible after arriving at the WTU. AW2 supports these Soldiers and their Families throughout their recovery and transition, even into Veteran status. This program, through the local support of AW2 Advocates, strives to foster the Soldier's independence.

United States Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment (WWR)

The Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment (WWR) administers the Marine Corps Recovery Coordination Program by ensuring wounded, ill and injured (WII) Marines medical and non-medical needs are fully integrated. The WWR is a single command with strategic reach that provides non-medical care to the total Marine force: Active Duty, Reserve, Retired, and Veteran Marines; whether attached to a WWR element or remaining with their parent command. The Regimental Headquarters, located in Quantico, VA, commands the operation of two Wounded Warrior Battalions located at Camp Pendleton, Calif. and Camp Lejeune, N.C., and multiple detachments in locations around the globe, including at major Military Treatment Facilities and VA Polytrauma Centers.
